ON THE OTHER SIDE
Another ending to a phenomenal week! I have been participating in SING with my sorority, and we placed 3rd this year! It was a remarkable ending to this week and I could not be any prouder of our chapter! We have not placed since 1987, so this was a huge deal.
Early in the week, it began slow with typical practices, rehab, treatment, and workouts. My week never fluctuates with this sort of thing. Our schedules remain consistent so that we never have an excuse to miss a practice or slack off. We are gearing up for competition season and practice has been extremely exhausting. Starting each day off at 5:30am is draining, but in the long run, it will be extremely worth it.
Right now, Baylor Spirit Squad is in a competition with D1 Waco, our fitness sponsor, to see wh
ich team can win the most points by completing extra workouts. We are currently in first place, and it has been so fun competing against the other spirit squad teams. It is so motivating to remain on top and be the best!
On Saturday, we had a double header at the Ferrell Center with men and women’s basketball!! What a day this was! We split our team into two groups, one cheered the men’s game against UT in the afternoon and the other group cheered the women’s game against Tech at night! I was put on the women’s game, so I was able to enjoy the men’s game as a student! I took pictures for Baylor Spirit and got to be on the court with the media crew! It was so much fun and an awesome game to be on the court for! The Ferrell was packed wall to wall, every seat was taken, and it got LOUD! I love cheering, but being on the other side of things was a blast. I enjoy being behind the scenes with the media crew and marketing team! I hope to be given this opportunity again in the future! Dick Vitale was in attendance and I got to chat with him for a bit as well! After the game, I ran to the locker room to put on my uniform to cheer for the Lady Bears and they also took home the win! It was an awesome day to be a Bear! Sic Em!
