SPRING GAME!
The year is finally coming to an end and we are finding ourselves in the very short “off season”. On Monday, we still had practice, but this time without the graduating seniors. This was a very weird day for me because I currently live with all seniors and not having them at practice was strange. However, it really showed the growing leadership in our team and I am very excited to get to work over the summer to make this the best year our team has had. Monday’s practice was all about preparation for the Football Spring Game that would be happening on Saturday! We went over sidelines and got back into the groove of football season.
On Wednesday, we had practice yet again, and this day was focused on our technique and getting ready to prepare our bodies for tryout season. Every year we have to tryout again for our team, and no spot is ever secure. It can be a very stressful time, but as the years go on you gain more confidence.
Friday’s practice was quite the show. We woke up for 6am practice only to find out that we did not have the card swipe to get into our facilities. Our coach is away in California for a trip with the mascots for traveling Dr. Pepper Hour, and so our assistant coach was going to be running practices. Without the card swipe, there was no way to get into the building, even with a key! We were all so tired but knew we had a big game the next day we had to practice for. We made do with what we had, and practiced outside. It was actually quite helpful accumulating our bodies to outside weather and humidity that we would soon experience on the sidelines. It was a very short practice, however, and we all found ourselves having Chick-fil-A breakfast right after.
Saturday was such an awesome day at McLane! Being a part of the Spirit Squad is one of the most humbling and rewarding things. We got to the stadium two hours before kickoff, and practiced on the field. After this, we headed up to the concourse where we greeted fans, hung out at the kids club, walked through tailgates, and strolled the parking lots. It is always so much fun getting to interact and network with so many people. The game started, and it was just like old times. Football season is an absolute blast and there is truly nothing quite like being on the Brazos. Baylor Football is back and I could not be more excited! Here’s to one more year!
