Regaining Strength & Continued Fun!

A new week is here and our weeks remain organized chaos once again! Our weekend ended with a Songleader Dance Clinic where recruits and potential new teammates travel from all across the country to Baylor to dance and learn from our current team!  This is one of my favorite days, because I love seeing all the young talent in the room fighting for a spot on our team.  I remember when I was getting recruited and how exciting the process is!  Throughout the day, I was dancing nonstop but having such a good time!  It is so surreal getting to have these clinics in the Ferrell Center! It is such a blessing getting to dance and be an ambassador for Baylor!

On Monday morning, it was the usual 5:20am wake up time.  We began our day slow and considering how sore we were from the weekend.  For the next two hours, we cleaned our routine that we will be performing at the women’s basketball game on February 25th!

Tuesday came and it was time for me to go see our trainer to continue rehab.  For a while, my back has been bothering me, but I thought nothing of it.  I kept complaining and finally our trainer brought me in to see what was up.  It turns out, I was not using a good amount of muscles in my back on a daily basis and needed to learn how and to strengthen it fast.  I began with stretches and then strengthening exercises where I was very humbled.  I was learning how to use muscles in my back I didn't even know I had.  I was overcompensating using other muscles and overworking them to the point where I could have a possible tear if not treated and fixed properly.  After rehab I got treatment and will continue this process for the rest of the year.

Wednesday was here before we knew it and we worked on technique and keeping our skills up at practice! This was such a motivating day.  After practice I went to workouts and caught up on school the rest of the day.  After this, my roommate and I went to the Baylor Ballpark and did a promotion for the new baseball jerseys for Baylor Athletics which was so much fun!

Fast forward to the end of the week on Saturday!  We had both men’s and women’s basketball games on the same day!  The women were home playing Iowa State and the men were away playing Kansas.  Unfortunately, we took the fall for both games. It was a weekend filled with Baylor Athletics, but men’s tennis, baseball, and basketball all took the fall.
