LET THE MADNESS BEGIN
This has been one of the best weeks ever. It is finally March, and that brings only one word to mind: madness. Being on the spirit squad has many perks, and having the opportunity to travel with the Baylor Men’s Basketball team has to be one of my favorite things.
On Sunday, I watched the selection show for March Madness with great anticipation. That night, I unpacked from spring break only to start repacking for Denver! I went to school Monday, and by Tuesday I was headed to the Waco Airport to hop on a charter plane with the men’s team for what was going to be the greatest week of the year.
Fast forward to Tuesday, and we have loaded the charter plane and we are off to Colorado! The flight was only about two hours, and I got a fantastic nap in. When we landed in Denver, it was only 20 degrees outside! We stood outside of the plane and grabbed our bags, helped basketball load the bus, and headed downtown!
On Wednesday, we woke up and drove to Boulder and hiked the Red Rocks Trailhead! It was an extremely hard hike, but the views at the top were well worth it! It was a warm and beautiful day in the mountains. After our hike, we walked down Pearl Street and toured a little bit of CU Boulder. After we got back to the hotel, the Songleaders had practice and Coach Drew told us we could use their film room. As our two hour practice to prepare for the game was coming to a close, we were surprised with the basketball team walking in on us, and we hurried out!
Thursday is now here, and we woke up to snow! It was such a beautiful sight to see. We walked to get coffee and breakfast, and had ourselves quite the relaxing morning enjoying the weather. Later in the day, we went shopping and I probably spent a little too much. We ate dinner and went back to our hotel to prepare for the big dance.
It is finally FRIDAY! IT’S TIME TO GO DANCING! We had an early wake up call at 5:30am so we could go downstairs and grab breakfast before the basketball team got down there, and then we started getting ready for the big day! We had a fun sendoff in the hotel lobby for the players to walk through, and then we headed to Ball Arena. The game was intense the first half, and then Lohner took it upon himself to have his career high night off the bench to help secure a Baylor win to advance into round 32!
On Saturday we prepared for the game on Sunday! We had another practice and then headed to a coffee shop to catch up on school work. We then hopped on the bus to spend a portion of the day in Golden and did another hike!
LET THE MADNESS CONTINUE! SIC EM BEARS! LET'S BEAT CREIGHTON!
